BlackBerry is going to launch a new QWERTY smartphone running on Android operating system. We already know that BlackBerry had stopped making smartphones on its own. But now a new report claims that this newly leaked device will be the last QWERTY smartphone made by the company. Some images of a BlackBerry smartphone have leaked on Chinese microblogging website Weibo and it could be the last in-house QWERTY smartphone named Mercury from the company, the report cited. There are already various rumors regarding this new QWERTY smartphone from the company.
Recently company CEO John Chen also said that there would be another one coming, means the company is working on one last QWERTY smartphone in-house. There are two images of this smartphone leaked online. The leaked images also show a front camera and ambient light sensor on the top of the smartphone. We already have some other info as well about this device. The same smartphone was earlier spotted on Geekbench as well in October.

According to Geekbech leak, it will come with a 4.5-inch display along with 3:2 aspect ratio. There will be 2.0 GHz Qualcomm chip on the smartphone and 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. There may be an 18MP rear camera along with 8MP front shooter. The smartphone will run on Android operating system as we can clearly see in the images that it has Google Play Store icon on the home screen.
BlackBerry recently launched DTEK50 and DTEK60 smartphones in India with a price tag of INR 21,990 and INR 46,990 with availability by early December. DTEK60 is the successor of DTEK50 smartphone. Both these devices are not manufactured by the company, as we already told you that company stopped making devices. Instead of that, it is looking to license other companies. And some reports also claims that it is in talk with one Chinese and Indian company for that as well.

The DTEK50 was just the rebranded Alcatel Idol 4s smartphone while DTEK60 was the rebranded of TCL 950 smartphone. The DTEK50 comes with a tagline of the world’s secure smartphone, and it comes with special encryption features. It has 5.2-inch FHD display along with 424PPI pixel density. There is octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor along with Adreno 405 GPU on board. There is a 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage & it is one of the thinnest smartphone from the company.
There are no solid details about the availability of the Mercury smartphone from the company, but the company CEO Chen in an interview with Bloomberg also said, “We have one keyboard phone I promised people, and its coming.” Hence we can expect company might launch it in beginning of the year 2017.
